Spontaneous

So, I was almost spontaneous last night. I walked into Target late in the evening, with no real intention of buying anything. However, as I headed to the electronics area, I came upon the Blu-Ray DVD players.
I got a new flat screen TV last Black Friday, with 1080p HD. However, the DVD player I have is rather outdated, so I'm not making as good a use out of my TV as I should.
Conveniently enough, Target had them on sale. I rarely shop for these things unprepared but here I was, reading each of the boxes to see how I could differentiate them.
I narrowed it down to two, but still wasn't sure which to get, what to look for, etc, so I called my sister and brother-in-law.
Seeing as how I rarely call at 9pm, the first thing she asked was "What's wrong?" (Mental note: call family more often so they don't panic when I do call.) I told her where I was and what I was doing, and put me on the phone with our family's resident electronics expert.
He said that the two options I had were decent deals and were probably good, but when I asked him what he'd do, he suggested he do research, etc.
Anyway, as that is my default setting, I heeded that advice, put down the players, and backed away slowly. Probably a good thing I did, cuz one of them had horrible reviews, and the other is already rather outdated in terms of Blu-Ray.
I suppose for someone who isn't spontaneous but would want to be more so, it might be better to take smaller bites and leave electronics purchases to more careful thought.
