Another post about traveling.
My mom got me a DVD box set of On the Road with Charles Kuralt. If you are not familiar, here's some background. The short story is that he was a journalist who traveled around the country in a motor home looking for interesting stories. A lot of the things he found were stories you'd never hear of otherwise; vignettes of everyday American life.
It's an interesting slice of Americana that exists once you get off the highways. He said of the interstate highway system, "it is now possible to travel from coast to coast without seeing anything."
I remember watching him as a kid when he was on CBS, so watching these DVDs now is like stepping back into the past.
