Music, pt. 2

So, I was feeling rather restless today for reasons unknown, and when that happens, I usually escape in some music. I set out to do some used record shop trolling this afternoon. I unfortunately do not have that many options to do that here, as such stores are fewer and farther between than they were when I was younger; in Tampa or Gainesville years ago, I'd have at least 5 within a relatively short driving distance, and here, I'm stuck with two.

Anyway, I started off at the first one, an FYE at the local mall, where, oddly enough, I've had some luck finding used CDs...except of course this time. I returned to my car empty handed, and as i was setting off to go, a wave of impulsiveness came over me. Why not just go over to the musical instruments section of the local Best Buy ( kind of like a mini Guitar Center) and do a little harmless searching at guitar amps? And why not, if I'm there already, just go ahead and play some of the acoustic guitars they have?

And so I did. However, in the back of my mind, a nagging little voice: I had a need for either of these things like I need another hole in my head. Besides, whatever I spend here is money I can't spend traveling, which is what I really want to do. Cooler heads prevailed, and I was able to back out slowly without doing any damage.

I still had the urge to track down some new music, so I headed to the racks of the Princeton Record Exchange where I would spend the next hour or so. I did leave with four CDs, so that was a mission accomplished!

Or so I thought. I got back into my car, and the same wave. Why not just head off to the Guitar Center? Shiny guitars and amps of your choosing! So, off I went to the Guitar Center...

And thankfully, the store was only open for another 20 minutes, which is not nearly enough for me to track down a guitar or amp I'd like; my impulsiveness isn't that brand of impulsiveness where I can just blindly point at a guitar and say "I'll take that one!" I left empty handed. Again.

But at least I did get some new music today, so that's cool, and I saved a bunch of money! Got me an assortment of stuff, too:
