Aside from getting an "olde tyme photo" taken in GAtlinburg, I don't think there's anything more touristy that you can do in the Smokies. OK, maybe I haven't thought that through. There are many things more touristy in than a train ride.
Anyway, apart from a bit of rain in the morning, the train ride is a great way to see Fontana Lake.
It was followed by a rafting trip down the Nantahala in the afternoon. Greg somehow volunteered us both to sit up front, which probably turned out to be the most fun. Down the big rapid at the end, Greg and I lost our balance. He's convinced that he hit me in the head with his paddle, but seeing as that action by some grace of physics most likely kept both of us in the boat, I think I'll let it slide. I was pretty numb from the cold, so I didn't really feel anything anyway.
