...in a weary world. That was my favorite quote from the original Willy Wonka movie. I think I was 10 or 11 when I first saw it, and I still dig that movie.
I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tonight, and I liked it very much. I'm not going to try to compare it to the first one, as they are two separate entities (even though time and nostalgia have teamed up to make the first one something special.)
Ok, screw it. I am going to try to make a comparison. I think the first one had a bit more heart. The second had more creativity and originality and imagination. One can't compare Johnny Depp and Gene Wilder, as they both bring something special to the role.
At any rate, I recommend it, as would the whole bunch of people who clapped at the end.
I hope to make this a two-movie weekend, with the next being "The Wedding Crashers."
