An interesting experiment: say something nice:

NC and some good BBQ
So, barring some unforeseen change in plans, I will head down to Knoxville for Thanksgiving! I get to see the Smokeys again...it has been entirely too long. I'll be taking the whole holiday week off, so I'll have the chance to explore and take my time.
I think I'll take the long way down (or, more accurately, the completely out-of-the-way way) and visit Chapel Hill for the first time in about 20 years. I want to revisit the town and where I used to live as well as all the places i remember. It'll be my own little version of "In My Life."
I'm not sure exactly what I'm to gain from this little side trip, but I guess the visit there will fulfill some sort of nostalgia. Could turn out to be a fruitless excursion. I think beforehand I'll track down the best BBQ western NC has to offer to make it worthwhile before I head over the mountain to Knoxville.

Really?
I haven't really hidden my political leanings here, but is this really a story?
GOP donors critical of Palin's pricey threads
I find it to be a rather sexist double standard...having this even be a story is actually pissing me off. Do you think men's suits are cheap, and do you actually believe that the male candidates even pay for them out of their pockets? Bull shit. Also, she would be absolutely raked over the coals if her clothes weren't well designed and perfect. Look how much grief Hilary Clinton got for those pant suits!
There are enough things to take issue with in relation to Gov. Palin. This shouldn't be one of them.

Dreams
I have a dream dictionary, which tells me what the symbols in my dreams may mean (rarely accurately, of course).
I had a dream were a blue horse was swimming toward me in a river or ocean, and when it got to me, bit down on my arm to grab hold of me. Not to necessarily hurt me, I think, but rather to direct me somewhere.
Anyway, I could not find a listing for this in the dream dictionary. How strange--I figured everyone had dreams like this. ;)

Sunday
I finished the book--235 pages. I took a bit longer than I would have liked, frankly, but at least it's complete.
Now, things can get somehow back to normal.
A couple of notes:
1) A joke:
I want to be a procrastinator at a protest.
"What do we want?!
PEACE!
When do we want it?!
Maybe tomorrow?
2) I named my first cat, Galileo, after an Indigo Girls song of the same name. Not for any particularly meaningful reason; it happened to be one of the songs I heard on the radio on my way to meeting my mom and sis, who had surprised me with the little beast. It was the first thing that popped in my head for a name.
Anyway, I was just thinking about Karma this weekend--(Doesn't everyone think about Karma on weekends?--especially how the Indigo Girls refer to it in their song:
Assuming this is true (and that's a big assumption), I wonder if all this time I've been paying for previous-me's mistakes. Karma, like revenge and salad, is a dish best served cold.

And then you had to bring up reincarnation
Over a couple of beers the other night
And now I'm serving time for mistakes
Made by another in another lifetime

Almost...
done! I am within spitting distance of finishing this book project that has eaten up an inordinate amount of time over the last few months. Only 11 more pages, easily done within a day.
Then, maybe I can run for the outdoors and enjoy some of the sunshine.

Keating and McCain
I haven't had a chance to blog much recently, as I've been stuck knee deep in this book project. One good thing is that I'm nearing the finish line, so yay me.
I'm surprised how quickly the campaigns went nasty. Most of it is bordering on the irrelevant and seems more like distraction than anything else.
It's actually quite disappointing.
But, fuck it, I'll play along.
