I went to go see a movie called Kung Fu Hustle last night. One of the more odd and off-the-wall movies I've seen lately, but I really dug it. The fight sequences were well made and purposefully over the top, and it was quite funny too (that was its purpose). It will be in my DVD collection when it comes out.
When I was young, I had a thing for Kung Fu movies -- Bruce Lee ones in particular. (not especially original, I know.) My friend Omar and I would bike down to the movie rental store and grab "Enter the DRagon" or "Fists of Fury" or something along those lines. Then, of course, as any impressionable kid would do, we'd go all "kung fu" on each other.
There's one movie I remember quite well: The Last Dragon, done by Berry Gordy. It is pure 80s schlock cheese, but I loved it when I was a kid. Sho'nuff!
