The Cardinals elected a new Pope today. My family is Catholic...some more so than others ... yet, for reasons I don't fully understand, I wasn't baptized.
For that, I think I might actually be thankful. I really don't want to belong to anything that would have me as its member (thanks, Groucho).
I went to a Catholic high school, too, and every morning we had a service, and every friday a mass. So, by extension, this whole catholic thing should at least be ingrained in me some how.
Yet, it isn't. I find this whole Pope thing curious.
Let's begin with my cynical belief that anything created by man is inherently fallible and basically doomed to fail. Humans created religion. Believe what you will, but humans developed the means by which we practice our religion. We built up all this dogma, which I think is a joke, and if you boil up all the diferent religious soups, you get down to the idea "Do unto others as you would have done on to you."
That to me is the most logical thing that humanity has ever developed. Everything else is illusion.
But don't think I don't believe in God. I do. More than people assume, Man, you got to have hope in something! Nevertheless, all the churches, synagogues, temples, and mosques will never be able to house the God that is found in a small stream of water flowing from a mountain to a river.
But then again, I could be very wrong. I hope I have some good karma built up.
I wish you well.

I think you were able to define God very nicely!
