I drove home from work the other day, and when I got to my town, I noticed a little For Sale By Owner sign pointing into an older neighborhood. I followed the signs to a small ranch home on maybe a half an acre. There was a tube that held info sheets on the house, so for shits and giggle, I grabbed.
The place had 3 bedrooms and 1 and 1/2 bathrooms. What do you think the going rate for a small ranch house would be? Maybe a 100grand? But this is Jersey, silly! Let's give it the benefit of the doubt and say 300grand.
Nope. 589grand. Or best offer.
If this is the going rate for a small house, then I'm screwed, doomed to live in rectangular-segmented dwellings forever.
That's Jersey for you. I hear you can still buy places to live in Knoxville where the prices aren't heart-attack inducing.

hey, i know u have no clue who i am, but i thought i would tell you that the price of that house is nothing. the house next door to me (i live near sf)just sold for 800,000. it has 3 bedrooms and one bath, very little land, and it sure wasnt pretty. just thought i would give u a little perspective,and tell you there is hope yet.
